Refusing To Lay An Egg

NOTE: The data presented in this entry is relevant to the 2007 season. For the latest information, please click here.

Given that there are only 119 programs at college football's highest level, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at which programs refuse to lay an egg on the football field.

Shutouts in college football are a rare thing. In fact, only 4.4% (166 of 3760) of games involving FBS (formerly I-A) teams in the past 5 years (2002-2006) have involved shutouts. Even that low of a rate is down for the 2007 season, as FBS programs have been shutout only 23 times in the 792 contests this year (2.9%).
