NCAA Tournament Score Predictions: First Round, Day 2

The following projected results for the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament uses score predictions that are automated based on average performances for each team. Relative adjustments are made for the difference between schedule strength and current opponent strength (per the RogersPoll.com method).

This method proved to be quite successful in predicting bowl games this past season. This is the first time I have attempted to apply it to the college basketball domain.

Pittsburgh over East Tennessee State, 98-68

Tennessee over Oklahoma State, 77-76

Florida State over Wisconsin, 65-63

Xavier over Portland State, 96-66

Arizona State over Temple, 67-64

Syracuse over Stephen F. Austin, 95-65

Louisville over Morehead State, 91-61

Ohio State over Siena, 82-58

Arizona over Utah, 72-66

Wake Forest over Cleveland State, 86-56

West Virginia over Dayton, 82-52

Kansas over North Dakota State, 104-74

USC over Boston College, 75-64

Michigan State over Robert Morris, 95-65

Marquette over Utah State, 89-59

Missouri over Cornell, 98-68
